Read the following paragraph about the Southern Pine
Beetle. The Southern Pine Beetle damages pine trees all over the southern United States. The female beetle finds a tree, digs holes in the wood, and lays her eggs deep inside the tree. An egg hatches, and the larva eats wood inside the tree. Then it crawls to the wood just under the bark, where it becomes a pupa. Once the pupa turns into a beetle , it crawls out of the tree and flies away. The beetle spends how many stages of its life entirely in the tree? |
